The Family and Community Resources Cluster manages an array of Programs, from assisting families with small children in education, nutrition, and safe placement, to assisting Tribal elders in caregiving, medical equipment, and Medicare program education. These programs provide food, energy, and water assistance to eligible Native Americans residing in the SPIPA service area.

AOA – Administration on Aging
AOA, Title IV, Senior Meals: Nutritious meals are provided free of charge at the tribal communities for qualified elders (enrolled in federally recognized tribes, Alaskan or Hawaiian Natives, their spouse.) Take out or home delivered meals are available for the homebound. Others are welcome to participate in the meal program by paying the posted meal price.
AOA Caregivers: Provides support for unpaid family caregivers with training, one-on-one counseling, support groups, and by providing assistive medical equipment such as walkers, hand rails, lifting straps, etc. The family member requiring care can be an elder or a dependent who is physically or mentally handicapped. Occasional respite care for the caregiver can be provided and volunteers can step in when available.
CSBG – Community Services Block Grant
Provides nutrition, education, recreation, and social activities to reduce the impact of poverty.
EFAP – Emergency Food Assistance Program
Provides emergency food vouchers to eligible households and individuals.
FDPIR – Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (USDA FOODS)
Provides fresh vegetables and frozen meats to community families on a monthly schedule.

FVPSA – Family Violence Prevention Act
Comprehensive dating and domestic violence prevention offers assistance and support to victims and non-offending members of their household.
LIHEAP – Low Income Home Energy Assistance
Provides financial assistance for home energy costs.
This application is only made available when funding is approved each year.
MIPPA – Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers
MIPPA provides outreach and information to assist eligible American Indian, Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian elders about the benefits available to them through Medicare Part D, the Low Income Subsidy, the Medicare Savings Program or Medicare prevention benefits and screenings. Works in conjunction with Elders Services at the Consortium Tribes.
WIC – Women, Infants, Children
Provides food and nutritional education to low-income women and their children.
