Cancer survivors and their caregivers came together to Ocean Shores to participate in cultural activities and learn about creating native arts, nutrition, healing through storytelling, and traditional healing. The Conference was on May 12-13, at the Quinault Beach Resort & Casino.
Hannah Curly, Quinault Indian Nation Council Treasurer, and Tyson Johnston, Quinault Indian Nation Councilmember, provided a beautiful welcome to Quinault and the opening blessing.
Thirty-eight Cancer Survivors were recognized in a special wrapping ceremony, and Skokomish Tribal member, Kimberly Miller, sang the Muskrat Song to close out the event.
There were 126 attendees, and 17 vendors who provided information on cancer, nutrition, survivorship, and caregiver support.
We would like to extend a special thank you to Community Health Plan of Washington and North Portland American Indian Health Board for their generous sponsorships, all four speakers, activity and cultural leaders, volunteers and attendees for making the Conference a wonderful experience for everyone.
