National Tribal Tobacco Conference in Minneapolis

Hope Adams and Cher Castello had the honor of attending the National Tribal Tobacco Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota, from June 22–24. The gathering brought together more than 150 participants, creating a powerful space for learning, connection, and cultural celebration. One of the most moving moments of the conference was the cultural teachings shared by Indigenous youth from the University of Minnesota, whose performances brought a deep sense of pride, tradition, and inspiration to all in attendance.

Throughout the event, participants engaged in meaningful breakout sessions and panel discussions led by ceremonial tobacco experts from across the nation. These conversations offered valuable insights, strengthened knowledge, and reinforced the importance of collaborative efforts in tobacco prevention and wellness.

A highlight for many was the speed networking session, which provided a unique opportunity to connect with others, share program experiences, and explore possibilities for future partnerships. These interactions fostered a strong sense of community and shared purpose.

Overall, the conference was a deeply meaningful experience, rich in culture, thoughtfully organized, and engaging from beginning to end. It left attendees feeling inspired, connected, and motivated to continue their work in supporting the health and well-being of their tribal communities and reclaiming sacred tobacco.
