Island Tribal Clinic to host a remarkable First Annual Cancer Awareness Color Run event on June 24, 2023, at the Squaxin Island ball field. The event garnered an impressive turnout, with 101 participants eagerly taking part in the cause.<\/p><p>The Color Run was not only a celebration of health and wellness but also aimed to raise awareness about cancer and its impact on individuals and communities. Participants of all ages, adorned in vibrant colors, raced throughout tribal housing and across the finish line with great enthusiasm and determination. Josiah Armas showcased exceptional speed and endurance, earning him the honor of being the first to cross the finish line.<\/p><p>As part of the event, cancer survivors, Joanne Decicio, Jenene Miller, and Pati Puhn were given special recognition for their resilience and strength in battling the disease. They were presented with a heartwarming blanket, symbolizing the community&#8217;s support and solidarity. The gesture aimed to inspire hope and highlight the importance of emotional and social support in a cancer survivor&#8217;s journey.<\/p><p>To fuel the spirits and energies of the participants, a delicious BBQ lunch was provided. Attendees indulged in a variety of mouthwatering dishes while engaging in conversations about cancer awareness and prevention.<\/p><p>The collaboration between SPIPA Cancer Programs and the Squaxin Island Tribe showcased the power of community engagement in the fight against cancer.
